Furniture Designer and Craftsman
Born in Brisbane in the early 60's and I've been living in a remote part of the north coast of NSW for the past 15 years. I'm now back on the Sunshine Coast where it all began with a new outlook on creativity with the raw feel of nature from the ocean and the bush.
"Keep it raw Keep it real"
A dedicated surfer for 47 years, my life has always revolved around the ocean and earth.
I have always had a passion for working with timber and creating something totally unique.
I was taught cabinetry by an English joiner in 1980 and have been making quality kitchens and furniture since.
Nothing is more rewarding than designing and creating a unique piece of furniture.
No two pieces are ever the same as every stick of timber has its own characteristics and its own story to tell.
I am a strong believer in recycling and can't bear the thought of beautiful old timbers being burnt or going to landfill.
My creations stem from Driftwood washed up along the beaches of NSW North Coast, Hardwood floorboards and doors from old beach houses, Hoop pine from old farm houses and reclaimed Honey infused Bee Boxes.
My latest in reclaimed timber furniture is the "Honey Infused" range. Beautiful timber furniture created from reclaimed Bee Boxes that are infused with a sweet honey scent from years of honey production in the Great Australian bush.
. The bee boxes are cleaned and sanded but leaving the features like brandings, some of the original paint and even some honeycomb scares before I set about my conquest.
Some of the boxes I’ve used had been producing honey for over 40 years in local bushlands which would equate to tonnes of Capilano Honey.
This range is a combination between Retro timber furniture and beach country timber furniture, only with a subtle honey scent. Each one of these unique pieces are finished with Beeswax furniture polish that I make myself to protect your investment.
I have also been creating wall art and furniture from driftwood planks that have been surfing the Pacific for months or even years. The planks need to be stripped of their sea life ( shells and barnacles), washed down and left to dry before any production can begin. "Wallboards" are a replica surfboard that have been shaped like a real board with nose lift and curved rails. They come in half scale and full size. The most popular have been the half scale as not everybody has room for a full size surfboard on their wall. Being made from driftwood means you can't get a closer relationship to the ocean. Wallboards can only be made when I find the right planks washed up and its been some time since this has happened, which makes this wall art even more exclusive.
